The short version

ShareDues keeps score of shared expenses. We collect what we need to run the app, nothing more. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and your money never moves through us.

What we collect

  • Account details — your email address, name, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from them.
  • The records you create — expenses, loans, circles, balances, settlements, income entries, and the people you add to them (including people not yet on ShareDues, if you track them as placeholder profiles).
  • Receipt photos and typed descriptions — if you use AI expense entry, the photo or text you submit is sent to our AI processing provider to extract the expense details, then used only to fill in your expense.
  • Chat assistant links — if you connect Telegram or WhatsApp, we store the link between your chat account and your ShareDues account so the bot can add expenses and send reminders you asked for.
  • Crash and diagnostic data — we use Sentry to collect crash reports and performance data so we can fix bugs.

What we use it for

To run ShareDues: syncing your balances, sending the notifications and reminders you turn on, converting currencies, and keeping your account secure. That's it. We don't sell personal data or use it for advertising.

Who can see your data

People in your circles see the expenses and balances you share with them—that's the point of the app. Service providers that help us run ShareDues (hosting, crash reporting, AI expense parsing) process data on our behalf. We never post to your chat apps without your permission.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed with a modern algorithm. You can add an app lock with a passcode plus Face ID or Touch ID, and sign out other devices from Settings.

Your choices

  • Turn notifications and chat-app channels on or off any time in Settings.
  • Disconnect Telegram or WhatsApp any time.
  • Delete your account from the Me tab inside the app—this removes your personal data from our systems, and residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 30 days. Records shared with others (like an expense in a circle) may persist for them without your identity attached. See how account deletion works.
